Chelsea striker Morata in advanced talks with Sevillaby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveChelsea striker Alvaro Morata is in advanced talks with Sevilla.Marca says Morata could have an agreement to join Sevilla wrapped up ‘in the coming days’.Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri is open to selling Morata in order to free up space for a new arrival up front.Sevilla are still working out how they will finance the transfer.Their big problem is how to afford Morata’s wages, which come to around €1m a month.Another sticking point is convincing Chelsea that a loan deal – rather than a straight sale – is an option. TCU and Baylor took the Big 12 by storm this season, and sportsbook 5Dimes likes those two teams as the favorites to take home a Big 12 title in 2015. TCU, which returns Heisman candidate Trevone Boykin at quarterback, comes in at +200 to win the conference, while Baylor is just a bit behind the Horned Frogs at +225. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State are tied for third at +500, while Kansas is way behind the pack at +8000. The most intriguing bet may be the ever-consistent Kansas State Wildcats at +1000. Never count out Bill Snyder. Here are the full Big 12 odds, via 5Dimes.
One of – if not, the – plays of the NCAA Tournament, thus far, was made by Notre Dame senior forward Pat Connaughton during the Fighting Irish’s third round game vs. Butler. With less than two seconds remaining in regulation and the score tied, 55-55, Connaughton swatted a game-winning 3-point attempt by Kellen Dunham. It was an incredible play that ultimately allowed Notre Dame to defeat the Bulldogs in overtime and reach the Sweet 16. The play was spectacular on TV, but it’s even more impressive with this new courtside footage. Check it out: Notre Dame is set to face Wichita State in the Sweet 16 in Cleveland on Thursday. The Fighting Irish will likely need another big performance from Connaughton to advance.
The Big Ten made some history in Monday’s AP Poll. This week’s AP Poll was released a day late because of games being moved due to Hurricane Matthew. But all that means is that the Big Ten made history a day later than originally planned. This week, there are four Big Ten teams ranked in the top ten. According to ESPN, it’s the first time that’s been the case since all the way back in 1960.Ohio State is No. 2, Michigan is No. 4, Wisconsin is No. 8 and Nebraska is No. 10.How did it happen? Losses by Houston and Miami set it all up.For the first time since 1960, the Big Ten has 4 teams in the AP Top 10 during the regular season. pic.twitter.com/vjKXCmkyBp— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) October 10, 2016Wisconsin and Ohio State take each other on this weekend, so it’s likely to be a short-lived feat. But the conference is certainly moving in the right direction.

(Photo by Jonathan Ferrey/Getty Images)We’re less than three months away from the kickoff of the 2018 college football season. Who’s excited?Everyone should be.The best part of the season approaching is that basically every program is optimistic. No one has lost yet. Hope is abundant. Not everyone should be optimistic, though. Some programs are bound to have terrible years. One of those programs, unfortunately, is Oregon State.ESPN is predicting Oregon State will be the country’s worst Power 5 team in 2018. It’s not close, either. The Football Power Index is projecting Oregon State will go 2-10 during the 2018 season. The Beavers are not favored to win any Pac-12 game.Oregon State is set to open its 2018 season on Sept. 1 at Ohio State. The FPI gives them a 1.2 percent chance to win that game. You can view the full projections here.
LSU is putting a beating on Miami tonight in Arlington. The Tigers are dding some insult to injury as well. After LSU’s Jacob Phillips took an interception back 45 yards for a touchdown to put the Tigers up 27-3 in the second quarter, he mocked Miami’s “Turnover Chain” on the sideline. It turns out Phillips put on a “Turnover Towel” as a makeshift celebratory prop. That’s cold-blooded.LSU trolls Miami’s turnover chain with “turnover towel” after scoring off a turnover pic.twitter.com/zFydyOMMEn— gifdsports (@gifdsports) September 3, 2018LSU TURNOVER TOWEL pic.twitter.com/iSTfM0fZwu— Yahoo Sports College Football (@YahooSportsCFB) September 3, 2018LSU is throttling Miami at the half, leading 27-3. (Photo by Pool/Getty Images)We’re a week into October, six weeks into the 2018 college football season, and College Football Playoff debates are heating up.Could the SEC get two teams into the playoff again? Could a 12-0 Notre Dame team get left out? Are the Big 12 and Pac-12 already eliminated from contention?ESPN took a look at some of the College Football Playoff hopefuls today. The Worldwide Leader named two undefeated teams “dark horse” contenders:West VirginiaWest Virginia still has to prove it has staying power, but if it can make a run at the Big 12 title and finish as a one-loss champ, it would certainly be considered. The problem for West Virginia (and the entire Big 12) is Notre Dame. The Irish are in a much better position to run the table, and an undefeated record would almost guarantee a top-four finish over a one-loss Big 12 champ. It also would depend on how the other Power 5 champs fare, as well as how Alabama and Georgia finish.NC StateEven if NC State shocks Clemson and wins the ACC, it wouldn’t be a lock. What’s your College Football Playoff prediction look like right now?You can view ESPN’s full rundown here.
COLLEGE STATION, TX – NOVEMBER 26: Right tackle Lee Grimes #74 of the Texas A&M Aggies confronts defensive end Sergio Kindle #2 of the Texas Longhorns in the first half at Kyle Field on November 26, 2009 in College Station, Texas. The Longhorns defeated the Aggies 49-39. (Photo by Aaron M. Sprecher/Getty Images)Texas football hasn’t renewed its rivalry with Texas A&M since the Aggies left the Big 12 for the SEC. There have been rumors about a potential match-up, including in bowl games, but nothing has come to fruition yet.Longhorns athletic director Chris Del Conte, who came over from TCU last year, says that the ball is in A&M’s court.Texas has scheduled pretty aggressively in recent seasons. In 2022 and 2023, the Longhorns will face Alabama.Del Conte says that he wanted that spot to go to the Aggies.Chris Del Conte recently revealed that he tried to add Texas A&M to Texas football’s future schedules in a radio interview. He recently appeared on SiriusXM and discussed the rivalry..@TexasFootball and @AggieFootball played against each other every year from 1915-2011.They have not played since 2011.@_delconte reached out to Texas A&M to try and bring back the rivalry game but “it didn’t fit in their schedule” ? pic.twitter.com/MzXEEsSPZF— College Sports on SiriusXM (@SXMCollege) November 20, 2018From the interview, courtesy of Saturday Down South:“I asked them if they wanted to play in 2022 and 2023 when we had an opening,” Del Conte said. “It didn’t fit into their schedule, so we added Alabama. We subsequently picked up Michigan and Ohio State and we just picked up Georgia, so I feel good about our non-conference schedule as we move along the way.”As a member of the SEC, which only plays eight conference games, A&M actually has more leniency with its schedules on a season-to-season basis. In 2022 and 2023, the Aggies do have a marquee home-and-home set up, though definitely not one that many fans will be as interested in as Texas. The Aggies host Miami on Sept. 17, 2022, and travel to face the ‘Canes on Sept. 9 the following season.
