first_imguTorrent Forum latest casualty in Hacking Gone Wild by Martin Brinkmann on June 08, 2016 in Security – 6 commentsWhen you open the official uTorrent web forum right now, a security advisory notifies you that forum data has been compromised and that attackers were able to download the forum user list.Users of the forum should consider passwords used on the forum as compromised even though they have not been available in clear text but as hashed passwords.The company suggests to update all third-party accounts where the same password has been used, especially if the same username or email address was used as well.uTorrent ForumThe full announcement reads:On June 6th, 2016, BitTorrent was made aware of a security issue involving the vendor which powers our forums.The vulnerability appears to have been through one of the vendor’s other clients, however it allowed attackers to access some information on other accounts.As a result, attackers were able to download a list of our forum users. We are investigating further to learn if any other information was accessed.Our vendor has made backend changes so that the hashes in the file do not appear to be a usable attack vector.As a precaution, we are advising our users to change their passwords. While the passwords may not be used as a vector on the forums, those hashed passwords should be considered compromised. Anyone using the same password for forums as well as other places is strongly advised to update their passwords and/or practice good personal security practices.The announcement highlights that the attackers managed to use a vulnerability on another client of the forum vendor to attack the uTorrent forum indirectly and grab the list of users from the site.The forum is powered by Invision Power, a company that is offering enterprise services such as managed plans and an enterprise platform that hosts forums.Additionally, it is unclear currently if other data has been dumped as well.The uTorrent forum has over 380,000 members according to TorrentFreak, and is visited by tens of thousand of users daily.Apart from the direct damage caused by the hack, there is also a chance that the data may be used to identify users and link them to posts they have made on the forum.One possible outcome of the hack could be a series of ransomware / phishing / social engineering emails, for instance emails claiming to have been sent by law enforcement agencies.The uTorrent Forum hack is just one in a series of hacks that originated in 2016 or came to light when hackers offered huge password databases on the darknet.Was one of your email addresses or accounts listed in one of the hacks? India Supreme Court sets July deadline in battle to legalize gay sex

first_imgIn its ongoing deliberations over whether to repeal Section 377 of the India’s penal code, the country’s Supreme Court today asked the Indian government to explain its stand on consensual sexual relations between same sex adults. GAYSTARNEWS- The Supreme Court members said Parliament should decided whether to repealing the law, not the judiciary. Local religious groups broadly welcomed the court’s decision, but many international organizations, including the United Nations, criticized it.Rather than being an anarchic, under-used piece of legislation, authorities across India used the Supreme Court ruling to once again prosecute LGBT people.Section 377 was cited in the arrest of 600 people in 2014 and over 1,400 in 2015. It has also made it more difficult to promote HIV awareness.Right to privacyIn early 2017, the Supreme Court agreed to consider petitions challenging its earlier verdict. It said petitions would be considered by a five-member board.In August 2017, the Court ruled ‘Right to Privacy is an integral part of Right to Life and Personal Liberty.’Campaigners believe this ruling nullifies Section 377 as it means consenting LGBT adults have a right to privacy.The Supreme Court’s five-member board reconvened to begin discussions on Section 377 on Wednesday 17 January 2018. Today’s demand means the Court is demanding the government make a decision with regards to gay sex.Its decision will have huge implications. One man is fighting for his life and M6 is closed between Junction 14 and Junction 13 following the accident – which has taken place near Cannock, with debris from the accident stretching for around a mile. The northbound carriageway was also closed due to the accident but reopened shortly before 5am. The southbound carriageway was originally closed between J14 (Stafford North and J12 (Gailey) but the area south of junction 13 (Stafford South) reopened shortly after 7am, with the rest of the carriageway reopening at around 10.15am. A diversion was in place and motorists were advised to avoid the area and traffic likely to be heavy on surrounding routes. West Midlands Ambulance Service said one man had been taken to hospital in critical condition following the accident. A spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a man who had suffered very significant injuries. The exact circumstances of what had happened were not clear. “He was anaesthetised at scene before being taken on blue lights to the major trauma centre at Royal Stoke University Hospital in a critical condition.” It is unclear if anyone else has been injured at this stage. Number plates were stolen from at least two vehicles in Uttoxeter between Friday night and Saturday morning – while tools were stolen after two vans were broken into in the East Staffordshire town (list of incidents below). Four people were also spotted acting in a ‘suspicious manner’ in a vehicle in the town in the early hours of today. Staffordshire Police have not specified whether they are treating any or all of the incidents as connected but anyone with information is urged to contact them. Marching against illegal abortion

first_imgMEC Doctor Sibongiseni Dhlomo led a large group of protesters on an Anti-Illegal Abortion March on Friday morning.The march stemmed from concern about how many illegal abortions are being performed in the Ladysmith area.The march started at the Department of Health offices in Lyell Street, proceeding up Lyell Street and down Murchison Street to end at the Town Hall. Included in the participants were doctors and nurses.The marchers stopped to remove ‘Free and Safe Abortion’ posters along the way, all the while singing and chanting that “illegal abortion must fall”.  They also handed out pamphlets that contained advice on what steps and precautions to take when terminating an unwanted pregnancy. Once the group came to a standstill at the Town Hall, the MEC delivered a speech through a loudspeaker, in which he thanked all the participants.  He challenged the municipality and the police to help to make sure that the illegal abortion posters do not go back up.  Deputy Mayor Sindi Mfusi stated that the police have previously arrested people who practice these illegal abortions.Members of the police and municipality signed a petition and gave their opinion about illegal abortion.The anti-illegal abortion campaign has been launched in Pietermaritzburg, as well as other areas. The center, located in close proximity to the hospital, also offers general X-ray, mammography, computerized bone density and ultrasound.“We are pleased to offer patients cutting-edge imaging services and the highest quality clinical care with close-to-home patient convenience and superior customer service,” said Dennis Connors, executive director of Glen Cove Hospital.The center’s redesign provides patients with a streamlined check-in process and a comfortable and modern waiting room. This makes it difficult to train systems, so AI developers are coming up with innovative new ways to train their software. Compounding issues with training pediatric imaging AI is that the normal ranges change very quickly for young children due to their rapid development. He explained what is normal for a 2-year-old may not be normal for a 5-year-old.Desai and other pediatric physicians who spoke at the conference said AI could have a big impact on pediatric imaging where there are not enough specialists for the increasing image volumes. She spoke on the theme of diversity and how to break down the barriers between various minorities, male-female, religion, national origin, etc. She gave many photo examples of how we pigeon hole people into neat categories and that we often say we have equally in society, however her images showed recent images of big political summits where there are no women present, or they were the secretaries in the background. She said in medical practice, department administration and collaboration on projects, people need to be cognoscente of bias they have engrained by culture for which they may not even be aware.She showed a slide of the AAPM membership makeup by generation and said members need to keep in mind the way each generation thinks and communicates varies by their generation’s life experience and upbringing. The system was pending U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval at AHRA, but received FDA 510(k) clearance in early August 2019.The system features a 33-inch aperture, large enough to place a wheelchair inside. It can be rotated 90 degrees in either direction and the deck can be parked in any position, making it easier for patients to get on and off the 660-pound weight table. The system is able to detect clinically significant pathologies in CT scans of the head with error rates better than published error rates for radiologists.The software system was created using the latest AI techniques, the knowledge contained in all major radiology textbooks on the subject, and the cumulative experience of reviewing over 9 million CT scan images.
